SALEM REACH 1
PIPELINE PROJECT

SERVICES

ABOUT

The Central Utah Water Conservancy District (CUWCD), together with Ames Construction, are installing the Salem Reach 1 segment of the Spanish Fork/Santaquin Pipeline--a 60 inch steel pipe to be buried within the Salem Canal Road from Elk Ridge Drive to Woodland Hills Drive. The existing Salem Canal (open canal and shallow pipe) will be removed, lowered and replaced with a 42-inch HDPE pipeline.

In addition, Salem City is using this opportunity to install new storm drains along portions of Salem Canal Road, 300 West, 100 East, 500 East, and 300 South, as well as additional curb and a public trail along the north side of Salem Canal Road (see map below). Also,  Salem Canal Road will be straightened by shifting the roadway southward between 500 East and 240 East and installing a full-width city street. After all the work is complete, a new asphalt surface will be placed along Salem Canal Road.

ABOUT

UPDATES

The project is nearing completion; the Salem Canal has been removed and replaced with underground pipe, installation of the 60-inch pipe is complete, and storm drains have been installed in various locations. However, construction crews continue some work to finish utility work, fencing, landscaping, and road reconstruction.

ROADWAY MILLING AND PAVING
Crews will be milling and preparing the roadway for new asphalt along portions of 500 E, 450 E, 100 E, 300 S, and 300 W, as well as side streets near the intersection with Salem Canal Road at 650 W, 550 W, 480 W, 70 W, 40 E, and 240 E, beginning Monday, April 29. Asphalt paving will follow beginning Friday, May 3; paving on your street will occur sometime within a two-week period. (see map below)

DRIVEWAYS/PARKING/IMPACTS
The roadways will remain accessible for local/resident traffic; however, brief delays may be necessary with flaggers directing traffic. Also, if your property is within the milling and paving work zone, it may become necessary to temporarily restrict access to your property’s entrance. On-street parking will be prohibited during this operation; please relocate any vehicles parked in the street. Residents nearby will likely experience noise, dust, and vibrations.

LANDSCAPING
Crews are now onsite and have begun work for irrigation/sprinkler and landscaping restoration.

SAFETY
PLEASE, BE CAREFUL! For your own safety and others, pay close attention to workers, signs and equipment, and maintain a safe distance when driving, biking or walking near construction work zones.

NO ENTRY ZONES
Signs and barriers are positioned for your safety. Do not move existing barricades, signs, or enter taped-off areas; violators may be fined.
